Student Wellness Initiative

A collection of student-led initiatives to promote wellness and health of students within the Emory DPT Program with an emphasis on incorporating physical activity into the class schedule.

Educational Garden Initiative

Emory DPT students partner with other professional students in the School of Medicine to grow food that is used in dining and hospital operations.

Sustainability Curriculum Integration

Using methods of self-study exercises, consultative projects, service learning and structured directed study electives, concepts of sustainability are being integrated into physical therapy curricula. 

Paper Reduction Program

The Class of 2017 transitioned the program to the use of digital handouts for class purposes. This transition saved 10 trees worth of paper and the program $300,000 per graduating class.

Green Facilities Initiative

This initiative incorporates cutting edge technology and processes to improve the division's educational facilities with a focus on water efficiency, energy reduction and indoor environmental quality. 

Emory Healthcare Sustainability Council

Emory DPT student and faculty representation on an interprofessional task force that guides recommendations to senior administrators to implement best practices in Emory Healthcare. 

Fall Sustainability Event

An introduction to sustainability practices for 1st year students with guest speaker Alice Rolls, CEO of Georgia Organics, and an individual self-study exercise designed to increase awareness of the interdependent systems related to physical therapy. Read More >

Community Supported Agriculture

An initiative to supply locally sourced produce to DPT students, and the use of locally grown or sustainably grown for catered program events.
